I’m ashamed to say that I used to eat microwave popcorn. Beyond the pretty horrifying link between the chemicals in those bags and an increased risk of cancer and lung disease, microwave popcorn is not easy to make! Even if you think you know the exact moment to stop the microwave, you still inevitably end up with a bag of half-burned popcorn or half-popped popcorn.
Enter the Presto PopLite Hot Air Popper. A friend casually mentioned it to Steven and me a few months ago, not knowing that she was about to change our lives forever. This $24 appliance is the bomb diggity. It’s unbelievably easy to use (pour the kernels in the top, plug it in, and presto!), it makes perfect popcorn (NEVER burned, with minimal unpopped kernels), and it’s healthy (pure, unadulterated whole grain popcorn without any nasty chemicals!)
We use our Misto Oil Sprayer to spray olive oil on the popcorn so the seasonings stick, and we top if off with a variety of seasonings. Keep it simple with salt, go crazy with made-for-popcorn seasoning, go sweet with cinnamon and sugar, or amp up the health factor by sprinkling on some nutritional yeast. It’s the ideal snack when you want a large portion of something without feeling guilty.
